You are invited to the Grove Church on 3/21/2010 Sunday. This Friday Pastor Bingcheng FENG will come Goodfriend Fellowship @ Korean Church. This Saturday Prof. Tom Durbin will arrange us to visit San Diego Creation History Museum.
Next Weekend there will be a winter retreat@Idyllwild (03/26-03/28). April 4 is Eastor.
Weekend Message
This week I am preaching from Genesis, Chapter 27, where Jacob gets Isaac’s blessing, and the title for my message is “The Soap Opera Family.” Was this one crazy family or what? How could they have drifted so far from God’s will in just a few short years? There are hundreds (well maybe 15) lessons here we can learn as parents leading and growing our families. You can also see that the lessons they learned in their family carried over into their adult lives. James Dobson has said two things that have always stuck with me; I’m not sure they originated with him, but I heard them from him. First, “values are caught and not taught.” This is so true as we read Genesis 27. Secondly, “the attitude, character trait, or behavior that we like least in our parents will come out in us” (I think he said 90% of the time). Then those same behaviors we catch from our parents, which we hated in them, we too will pass onto our children unless we stop, recognize and admit the problem and actively work to get that issue out of our life. Is their anything that you have caught from your parents that you don’t want to pass onto your kids? Now is the time to admit it and begin to work on that or those issues.
